The Doeberl Cup is the longest running weekend chess event in Australia – first held in 1963!
Winners read like the who’s who of Australian Chess; including John and Cecil Purdy, Ian Rogers, Zong-Yuan Zhao, David Smerdon, Darryl Johansen, Aleksandar Wohl, Tony Miles, Greg Hjorth, Robert Jamieson, Phil Viner, and more recently overseas visitors Hrant Melkumyan (ARM), Timur Gareyev (USA) and Surya Ganguly (IND).
This year includes 9 Round Premier and 7 Round Major Tournaments, as well as a Minor, u1200 and Lightning tournaments.
A $AUD 23,135 prize pool and a $5,000 top prize.
