The Tasmanian Chess Association is a not for profit organisation whose aims are to foster interest, organise tournaments and generally oversee chess in Tasmania. Entry in TCA organised chess events allows participants the chance to earn or update their official Australian chess rating.

Clubs selected by the TCA run the Tasmanian Championships each year in March, the Tasmanian Open and Lightning each year in June, and other weekend events which may vary from year to year.

The TCA also runs the individual Tasmanian Junior Championships every year.
