Outreach Chess Anzac Day Social Teams Event (Queensland):
You never know what to expect when you try a new chess event and this year's inaugural event definitely had many pleasant surprises.
The event was social in nature and had the aim of raising funds for both developing chess (by way of supplying equipment and sponsorship to clubs) and supporting organisations that are helping the homeless.
As a hardened tournament junkie I found the most pleasing difference to be the change in culture of the players' mood. They had a ball and it started from the very outset with the free sausage sizzle and finished with the awarding of medals. The biggest smiles came right at the end of the day with the awarding of 'encouragement medals' to the "Chess Masters" team which comprises of the super mums of Sue Kimura and Sanae Toda and the tiny terror of Yamato Toda.
At the business end of the proceedings we had 'Big Snooze' (alias Club Bullwinkle) in first place. The team comprised of Jacob Edwards, Craig (I had 3 hours sleep) Stewart and Regina Grenfell. It was noted that had the winners been held to a second draw in the top of the table tussle then they may not have gone home with the gold. However, they showed their true strength and the 'Toowoomba' team had to settle for silver medals.
The 'Toowoomba' team of Luthien Russell, Michael Gearing and Brock McIntyre should be well pleased with their second place as a worthy return for the distance travelled. It was efforts like this that made for a great day.
Bronze medals went to 'Rooks Rule' who where a composite team of Zac Dolan-Bowman (a future name to watch), Catherine Wright and Michael Giess.
All in all the event raised close to $400, was full of fun and had lots of enjoyable chess on another perfect Qld day!
Thanks to all how helped organise the day from players, volunteers and Nerang Community Church who took the bold leap of allowing their premises to be 'redesigned' into a purpose built chess hall.

which automatically generates formatted html for chess tournament
coverage on the web (pairings, results, standings, crosstables). The
program now works directly with SwissPerfect save files (.trn and

scripting).
I welcome all feedback and bug reports from users of sp2html. Please
also feel free to send me links to your websites generated with

I'm a teacher at the Tonya Þehit Ayhan Güner Secondary school in Trabzon, Turkey. At the same time I'm a guide teacher at the chess club. Although our school is on old school it has a capacity of 600 students. But lack of opportunity and poorness of students, our school is unsuccessfull in nony areas. Although our students have skills and interest, they can't do anything because of the limited opportunities. At the chess club we want to give chess education in order to improve their mind skills and interest. So we have instant needs such as chess magazines, chess books, chess table ... etc.
We believe that you will show help. As a contemporary country, our duty is to grow our students in an appropriate way. Please, let's listen to our student's call.
I look forward to hearing from you.
