ACF Bulletin No. 68a

PARKROYAL SURFERS PARADISE INTERNATIONAL

The only upsets in round one were Manuel Weeks' draw with Lubomir Ftacnik
and Israel Yadao's defeat of Erik Teichmann. I suspect that the unrated
Yadao will trouble the GMs in this event.

Live transmission to the internet worked very well today. The board one
game can be viewed at the tournament website:
http://www.auschess.org.au/oceania/spi.htm. It was intended to transmit
this game using the Fritz Sensory Board. Unfortunately the set arrived from
London on Monday with a white King that thought it was a black bishop. A
new piece is being couriered from London and we hope to have this in action
in a few days. In the meantime the games are being moused in virtually as
they happen.

The first four boards were transmitted live by the Internet Chess Club
(ICC). Again, the moves were moused in virtually as they happened.

Many thanks to IA Gary Bekker and his helpers for bringing this service to
the Australian chess community. Feedback in time for next weekend's
bulletin would be appreciated.

Very best wishes

Graeme Gardiner
